Sargur (Hari) Srihari

University Commemoration in Buffalo

In the late spring (likely May 2022), we are planning an event in Buffalo in connection with UB, with a greater focus on Hari’s professional accomplishments. Please send email to if you wish to be apprised of further arrangements and we will keep you informed.

Ways to Honor Hari

First, we invite you to read about Hari’s remarkable life here. Please also share your thoughts using the online guestbook.

In lieu of flowers, our family has established a separate fund for scholarships at the University at Buffalo in Hari’s name. To make a contribution online, please click here.

Finally, we request that the information on this website be shared widely among Hari’s family, friends, and colleagues as appropriate.

Memorial and Celebration of Life (complete)

A Memorial and Celebration of Life event was held on Sunday 3/20 at 2:00 PM at the City Tavern Club, 3206 M Street NW, Washington DC 20007. The event was followed by a social hour with Indian snacks.

Earlier that same morning (Sunday 3/20), we held traditional Hindu 13th day rites and chanting at the City Tavern Club on the upper level. In Hindu tradition, 13th day rites are conducted to honor one’s ancestors and allow the soul to depart.

Our family is very grateful to all who attended the memorial event and/or the 13th day rites.

Visitation and Funeral Rites (complete)

Visitation and Hindu funeral rites were held on Saturday 3/12 at Pumphrey Funeral Home (Bethesda location) at 7557 Wisconsin Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814. Our family is grateful to all who attended.
